Lead on roofs have been used effectively for hundreds of years and is still used today. Lead is extremely long lasting and looks great when done correctly. You will always see lead on church roofs and many historic buildings. Today lead is still widely used especially where roofs change pitch. Lead is used in valleys, centre gutters, around chimney stacks, flat roofs abutments to walls and ornamentally. Lead comes in all sizes and thickness. From code 3 lead for slate flashings to code 7 & 8 for larger bay sections of flat roof. A basic rule to remember is the bigger the piece of lead required the thicker the piece of lead.
Our most recent project has been for Downside Abbey, re leading the bell tower on Stratton on the Fosse Church.
